It is a size 18 month but looks more like a definite size 2 toddler of today's sizing. The pattern was a huge pain! It was not even correctly designed and I had to finagle my pieces to make them work out. The collar was not the right size at all! So I made a new collar which is fine by me. Now I just have to attach it and an interface piece with a Apple Creek Cottage tag. I am trying to find the right little vintage buttons to match. I think white would be good to match the collar and also for contrast. But I never really know until I find the exact right button for a piece. I don't always go for the recommended button size either, I just go with what feels right. I have gone through my button collection and didn't find anything suitable. So I will be looking on eBay and may even make a trip to the fabric store to purchase a vintage looking set of buttons. I think the coat is coming out pretty cute despite the problems with the pattern.
List 7 Random Things about yourself.
Post these rules.

If you have read my other blog I have been tagged a couple of other times and came up with some random things about myself. Well sadly that's not too hard to do LOL! I can always come up with something random about myself. I thought it might be fun to share random pet peeves this time maybe because the PMS meter is off the hook- along with the usual holiday stress helped me come up with that idea!?!?LoL! And I would love to hear some of yours too, so don't be shy share your pet peeve's -leave me a comment!

1. My kids have perfect aim if they want to throw something at each other in a fit of brotherly/sisterly love (not), or if they want to make a perfect pass for a touch down. But when it comes to throwing their clothes in the laundry baskets they always come up short! There's the clothes on the floor right next to the basket-Or they mix up colors with the whites! What's up with that? Just how hard is it I ask you to take one or two more steps and drop those things in the right basket?

Not to mention when the toilet paper runs out-OK yea you did get another roll out-take it a step further-go the extra mile- magnify your calling- actually put it on the hanger! Sheesh!

2. If something is on the floor that they can't see (yea right) somehow they manage to completely avoid it as they gingerly step over it! But when I say hey why don't you just pick that up? They say "huh-oh sorry didn't see it mom!" EEhhEmmm A yea okay.

3. When something can't be found-how come they always think I am going to know it's location? Must be my motherly uterus it's like a GPS-??? Do ya think-maybe? Lol!

4. When I am calling those darn kids (and the old guy too-he is my fourth kid) they can't hear a word I am saying-like when I need someone to take the trash out. But as soon as I go into the bathroom they think that is the perfect time to have a conversation with me for some reason?!?! What the? I just love how if the door is not looked they will waltz right on in like um I'm not in the bathroom or anything? Hello? And if the door is locked they say "mom what are you doing?" Hey kids big clue-I'm not in here washing my hands over and over again! For cryin out loud! I'll let ya know when I am done!

5. Okay to give my kids a break and because I really do love those little buggars. They really are great kids! So I will move onto anonymous people.

Stand in line shoppers? Gotta love 'em huh? NOT!

First of all they usually are the ones that happen to pick up their step walking or should I say jogging to beat ya in line- and it is 99.9% of the time the Cash Only-10 items or less line! And then they proceed to send a slow moving family member to run and get the last 5 of the 15 items they intend to purchase-with a check! Get a life folks-we don't look at you with that not so nice you gotta be kidding look for nothin!

6. Middle aged guys who wear those darn flowery shorts and shirts with the shirt half way un-buttoned! Come on- you guys really don't think we want to see that no matter how short the line is! And when you are standing there in that get up trying to make small talk and flirt-really come on am I really going to find you attractive? UUGGH -please cover up that out of shape middle aged body of yours and don't bother me-please! I don't care what kind of pet you have or what you feed it! Get a clue Man! I am not going to tell you what sign I am and I do not need help out with my grocery's to my car! Gag!

7. I drive the speed limit You freakin fools-if you don't like it go around! I'll see ya when I pass you getting a ticket! LOL! And that has happened plenty of times-love it when that happens too! And hey don't yell at me " Hey-you drive like an old lady". "Bleep" You I am an old lady and this old lady drives the speed limit! Well I am a grandma after all so I guess that puts me in that category? Mu Mu's are starting to look pretty comfy to me with a nice pair of knee high stockings! LOL-just kidding that's not true!!! That will never happen!

Now you next batch of taggee's can make up your mind to choose whatever you want to post on for the random things. But do have a grand ole time with it and be creative!

Thanks for listening to my crazy randomness-hope you all have a wonderful -last minute shopping weekend before Christmas! I'm going shopping-so be on the look out for a bloated old grouchy-middle aged grandma- lady with a swift movin shopping cart! It's probably just me-throw some chocolate my way and I might spare ya! Oh hey my hubby just brought me some homemade chocolate pudding-smart man!

Gotta go for now-blog on! TaM! :)

P.S. So I thought I would put a few things up. This photo is from many years ago when our daughter Amber was in dance (1989 or 90-so don't mind my crazy hair-do LoL!) and had a holiday performance to do. Boy I look tired in that pic-but then I was super mom! Amber's sweet little Burgundy coat is one I made for her (those reproduction buttons on it cost a fortune-more then the fabric) and we still have it to pass onto her little daughter Emily. It was a little big on Amber at that time but she was able to get more then one season out of it. I know the photos are not the best-sorry. The tiny velveteen coat was made from a formal I had when I was a teen and had saved it for the fabric. When my daughter was born it was recycled and I made her, her very first dress coat. It has seen better days, but we cannot part with it! I do love to recycle fabric and buttons!

I am going to start making some of my special little dress coats for sale here soon as I have my shop set up. I know it is late in the season but my designs will be time less for the most part (and hey I will have a jump on for next year).

If you have been reading my other blog http://yakiddyyakyak.blogspot.com/ you will see I have been trying to do a bit too much right now being the holidays and all. I need to get my "big project" done to properly set my shop up. It will help to have everything that goes along with the holidays behind me as well. Then I can devote myself to getting my shop up.

I am sure I will have a few that I will have a bit of a twist. I am going to be using vintage patterns for my designs-this should be fun.

I also do some pretty lil fancy dresses for church or special events, and some cute casual dresses too. Some of my designs will be limited and I will make only so many of them. It will depend on what fabric amounts I have of any particular type and color. I am not one to mass produce something-I like to have each item I make be unique in some way. I am in the process of filling up my stock (eBay) so if any of you gals out there that sew have some good sources please let me know. Of course I will not just be sewing dresses, and coats, there will be other fun stuff like dolls and baby items! I only wish I would have been taking photos of all my creations that I have made as gifts or was paid to make so that I could share! So there ya have it a little peek at what will be coming once my shop is set up.

Thanks to all of you blogger buddies who have stuck by me and have been so patient! No worries I eventually will be posting like crazy! LOL!

I hope you all are having a wonderful week! Pretty easy too. I have been making these for new babies for over 15 years now. Family and friends have come to expect to receive a pair with the birth of each baby. So I have made lots of them, and in fact usually try to have several pair pre-maid and ready. But this time I had run out and had to whip up a pair. They are always a big hit! These lil cuties are going to belong to a brand new baby boy to be born sometime in February, to a co-worker of my daughter Amber. I have also made a small baby quilt from scraps of flannel. The photos of that didn't come out so well and I will have to retake them and post that later. The bunny booties are sitting on the back side of that little quilt. The booties are made of micro white fleece for the outside and flannel for the inside. I have also used other soft fabrics, like Terri or velour. Sometimes I use ribbon for the ties, however this time I choose to use the flannel instead. I hope you like them. They are pretty easy and can be made to fit toddler and children sizes. I am thinking about making enough to sell. I make all kinds of things but they are always gifts-I never sell them. I may change that with the recent urging of family and friends? I will take photos of some of my other sewing projects that I still have around and post them sometime. The camera I have to use doesn't take the best photos.

Thanks for visiting my blog!!!
tamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11670492770263044845noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8037077697944289948.post-21680276651153873722008-11-12T01:23:00.000-08:002008-11-12T01:27:08.990-08:00Check out this give away!
This quilt is just one of three-yes that's what I said three quilts that will be given away!!!
They are all absolutely beautiful!!!
Just pop on over to http://oldredbarnco.blogspot.com/ and see how to enter.
How fun it this? My poor little republican heart is broken and I am very concerned for the future of our sweet country. But we have to have the bad times to appreciate the good times. And at times there must be mistakes made to have a learning experience. It appears that the majority of America must touch the fire and get burned before they figure out ooppps that was a bad idea-live and learn!
So I'm going to just have to keep the faith! With hope and faith anything is possible.
The good news is I have my sewing machine back~ I love that machine! So I think I will go tackle one of my many, many sewing projects awaiting me. Nothing like a little time in my crafting room to relieve stress! It's the cheapest form of therapy. That and having a few laughs with friends.
My daughter has a friend who is expecting a baby boy so I need to get some cute gifts sewn up, or at least get something started. Lets see what I can come up with? I will post some pics when I get something completed.
Until then... Count your many blessings, and have a happy day!tamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11670492770263044845noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8037077697944289948.post-84963505479803999122008-10-29T10:56:00.000-07:002008-10-29T17:57:26.732-07:00I've been Boo'ed! I have been Boo'ed by my new Blogger friend Pam over at http://antiqueornot.blogspot.com/ ~Thanks Pam!

If I've sent you here, go to as many friends as you want and tell them that they've been "BOO!-ed". My sewing machine was given to me as a gift years ago by my dear Grammy who raised me is on the blink. She is the one who taught me to sew among other things. Like manners, etiquette, and to stand up straight! I am 6' tall and have been since sprouting up as a teen. Anyhow back to my dilemma. I am borrowing my daughters sewing machine-it is not the same- not at all. Now I know why she doesn't sew! It was a Christmas gift to her from her Dad and I some years ago when she was a teen, an inexpensive beginner type of machine. Although it is a newer machine then mine it doesn't do half what my machine can do. Sooo I guess that means I have no more excuses about time to sort out and reorganize my fabrics. I know I will be a happy girl once that is done. I mean really is there anything more satisfying then stacks of neatly folded color coordinated fabrics? I really need to get some kind of shelving or cabinets for my fabric and get them out of the big bins they are in. Seeing that this is Sunday a day of rest I will be able -without guilt to put off my project for one more day. Once the reorganizing is done and my machine gets back from the repairman I should be able to go crazy sewing up a storm!

So since it may be a while before I can get anything new up I thought I would share some photos of quilts my Aunt Barb makes. Our family vacationed in Pennsylvania August 2007. Visiting my Aunt Barb and Uncle Jim was one of the highlights of my trip. Aunt Barb makes the most incredible, gorgeous quilts. She had them stacked on the beds in her home. And when I say stacked I mean there were more then several on each bed! She had the most wonderful and interesting stories to go with each quilt. Aunt Barb is a very tiny woman and a breast cancer survivor, an amazing woman who left an everlasting impression on me. I was in quilters heaven at her house! She is quite the seasoned quilter to say the least. Every quilt was impressive both front and back. So I hope you enjoy the photos of just "some" of her amazing quilts!

tamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11670492770263044845noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8037077697944289948.post-54156654355045321032008-10-25T18:55:00.000-07:002008-10-25T19:01:56.153-07:00Cute Bundled Newborns I made these cute little bundles and my grand daughter decided she must have every one of them for herself!
